about us

Wireframe Studio is an independent multimedia and web design agency based in Cape Town, South Africa. We were founded back in 1995, which means we’re actually only 4 years younger than the www and a year older than Flash.

Wireframe Studio has the skills to take you from concept through to final production, on brief, on the edge and on budget. We do everything from interface design, flash and director authoring, touch screen applications, interactive installations, website authoring, e-learning applications, animation, video digitisation and editing, audio production, copywriting and information architecture. We’re also able to integrate all of these with smart backend systems and databases.

Along the way we’ve picked up numerous awards, both locally and internationally, but the real measure of our success is our passion. What really sets us apart though is our ability to bridge the creative and technical divide. Our developers have both design and programming skills and by hotwiring these two disciplines we’ve been able push creative boundaries.

This project consisted of over 20 interactive exhibits for a Science and Technology museum in Saudi Arabia. Exhibits included a 5 metre multi-touch table, a 1 metre square multi-touch table allowing users to design their own Arabesque patterns using simple tiles that they could combine and lock together to create their own patterns, a portrait mounted 56 inch touch screen and users drag an on-screen magnifying glass over an illustrated human body revealing early islamic knowledge of human anotomy, a wall mounted sliding plasma screen engaging a pulley system allowing the user to drag the screen from left to right to navigate/scroll through content, a top down projection onto a resin based relief surface with contours showing an animation of how early Islamic settlements were formed and grew over time as well as a number of uniquely designed touch screen applications covering a wide range of topics.
